The South Alabama Jaguars face off with the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns on Monday in Pensacola, Florida at the Pensacola Bay Center in the title game of the Sun Belt Conference tournament. South Alabama has won each of its first three games of the tournament including an upset victory over James Madison in the semifinals 75-66 on Sunday. Louisiana defeated Georgia Southern in the quarterfinals and added a 64-58 victory over Texas State on Sunday in the semifinals. Both teams are injury free.

South Alabama is seeded eighth in the 12-team Sun Belt Tournament and has upset a higher seed in two of the three games played in the tournament with a opening game victory over Appalachian State, the ninth seed, followed by a 78-71 victory over No. 1 seed Southern Miss and a 75-66 victory over No. 4 seed James Madison. In Sunday's upset of James Madison, South Alabama’s defense held the Dukes to 40.0% shooting overall and 12% shooting from 3 point land forcing the Dukes to miss 14 of 16 3-point attempts.

 

 

South Alabama's offense is also coming through during the tournament and in Sunday's victory shot 53% overall and 44% from three point land, hitting 8 of 18 3-point attempts. Isaiah Moore is the leading scorer for South Alabama with an average of 18.5 points per game while Kevin Samuel is averaging 10.1 points per game. Samuel is also the king of the boards for the Jaguars, averaging a team best 9.1 rebounds per game, while Moore is the leader in assists with an average of 4.7 dishes per contest.
