The eighth-seeded Detroit Mercy Titans and the top-seeded Youngstown State Penguins will square off in the quarterfinals of the Barbasol Horizon League Championship on Thursday night at the Beeghly Center. The Titans are 14-18 (9-11) so far and are coming off an 81-68 home win on Tuesday against the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons to adva nce to this matchup. The Penguins are 23-8 (15-5) right now and are coming off a 93-79 road win on Saturday against the IUPUI Jaguars. These programs met twice during the regular season with the Penguins winning both times. 

The Detroit Mercy Titans were able to survive as they picked up a solid 81-68 home win in the first round against the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons. They did well in the second half as they ended up scoring 47 points. They shot the ball at a great level as they were 29-of-61 (47.5 percent) overall, 10-of-25 (40 percent) from three, and 16 free-throw attempts. Senior guard Antoine Davis led the team as in 38 minutes he finished with 38 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, four steals,and five turnovers. Defensively, they did a great job as they allowed 38.3 percent from the floor and 28.6 percent from deep here. Detroit did well as they finished with 10 steals and three blocks throughout the game after forcing 13 turnovers. 

The Detroit Mercy Titans are having an outstand ing job this season on the offensive side of the floor as they are 60th in the nation with 76.9 points per game thus far and shooting a less than ideal 43.6 percent from the floor and are averaging 12.6 assists per game. Defensively, they are giving up way too many points at 75.5 points per game, which is 326th in the country. They have been causing issues at a decent rate with 1.9 blocks and 6.2 steals per game thus far.
