The Xavier Musketeers (21-8, 16-12-1 ATS, 18-10 O/U) battle the Providence Friars (21-8, 18-11 ATS, 15-14 O/U) in a Big East showdown on Wednesday evening. The Musketeers posted a big road win against Seton Hall on Friday. The Friars beat Georgetown on Sunday. Xavier collected an 85-83 home win against Providence last month.

The Xavier Musketeers enter this one with 13 Big East wins. They are unlikely to achieve first but need a win to remain ahead of Providence in the second spot in the conference. Xavier was dealt a narrow home loss by Villanova last week and replied by recording a dominating 82-60 home win against Seton Hall on Friday in a bout that had Xavier as small 1.5-point favorites. The Musketeers have covered the spread in three of their last four games. 

Souley Boum continues to produce, eclipsing 20 points in two of his last four clashes. The senior guard netted 20 against Providence earlier this month and has delivered an average of 16.5 PPG on the season. Colby Jones had one of his better performances in the meeting against Province, sinking 20 points. The junior guard has recorded an average of 14.7 PPG on a strong 50% mark from the field. Jack Nunge has t wo double-doubles in his last three bouts. The senior forward has reported an average of 14.3 PPG. 

Xavier is ranked 18th in DI in Ken Pomeroy’s ratings and dipped three spots to #19 in this week’s AP Top 25. Xavier is 7-3 on the road. They have scored at least 82 points in two of their last three games and are averaging 81.9 points, good for 13th. The Musketeers are conceding an average of 74.3 points, placing them 297th.
