The new-look Brooklyn Nets will head south on Sunday to take on the Atlanta Hawks in an Eastern Conference showdown. The Nets are coming off a blowout loss at Chicago but remain in fifth place in the Eastern Conference playoff standings. Atlanta, meanwhile, picked up a win on Friday night to even its record to 30-30 on the season as the team prepares for an all-new coaching staff after the firing of Nate McMillan this past week. The opening tap on Sunday is scheduled for 3:00 PM EST.

The Brooklyn Nets made some major moves at the trade deadline that changed the face of the team and the team will certainly take time to adjust to life without Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. On Friday night, the Nets had one of their worst performances of the season in a 131-87 loss at Chicago. At one point, the Nets trailed by fifty points in the fourth quarter as the team looked flat from the outset. Cam Thomas led the Nets with 22 points while Seth Curry added 19 points and newcomer Mikal Bridges chipped in with 13 points.
“We really have to be the hardest-playing team in the NBA,” Brooklyn coach Jacque Vaughn said. “When we don't, this can happen.
“I'm going to continue to challenge our guys that this is unacceptable as a group. I want them to own it and respond.”

Brooklyn is trying to incorporate five new players into its rotation with just over 20 games remaining in the season. They are now just a game up on the hard-charging New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference standings. On the season, Brooklyn is 17th in scoring offense thus far. The Nets are second in field goal percentage and second in 3pt offense. The team is 16th in turnovers and last in the NBA in total rebounding. On the defensive end, the Nets are ninth in scoring defense and fourth in opponent's field goal percentage. Brooklyn is just 24th in 3pt defense.
