The Buffalo Bulls are on the road as they make the trip to face the Toledo Rockets Saturday afternoon. Buffalo comes in off an impressive defensive showing as they rolled past Central Michigan 63-35 at home, covering the line as a 13.5-point favorite Tuesday night in their last game. Toledo romped to an 84-63 home win over Akron Tuesday, easily covering the line as a four-point favorite in their previous contest. In the all-time series between the teams, the Rockets own a 19-14 advantage and have won the last four meetings. That includes an 86-77 road win in the first meeting this season on January 20.

Buffalo snapped a three-game losing skid as they turned in a stellar defensive showing in a romp over Central Michigan Tuesday night. The Bulls improved to 13-15 overall and stand tied for sixth in the conference with a 7-8 record on the year. Against Central Michigan, Buffalo’s defense was the difference in the game as both teams had cold shooting nights. The Bulls trailed 2-0 early before scoring 20 straight points and never looked back. Buffalo led 36-14 at the half and didn’t let the Chippewas closer than that in the second half en route to the victory. The Bulls shot only 36.5% from the field, including eight of 28 from three-point range, and forced 23 turnovers while limiting the Chippewas to 29.8% from the floor in the win. Curtis Jones led Buffalo with 14 points, four rebounds, five assists and three steals in the win.

The Bulls are piling up an average of 77.9 points per game on the year, putting them 48th in the nation in scoring offense. Buffalo is solid on the glass as they pull down an average of 37.9 boards a night (35th in the nation) and dish out 15.2 assists (49th) per game. The Bulls are below average on the defensive end of the floor, ranking 341st in scoring defense as they allow 76.6 points per game. Curtis Jones leads the team with 15.3 points plus 4.9 rebounds per contest this season. Zid Powell (12.6 points, 3.9 rebounds), Isaiah Adams (11.2 points, 5.1 rebounds) and Armoni Foster (nine points) each are good secondary scoring options. LaQuill Hardnett (10.3 points, 7.3 rebounds), Devin Ceaser, Isaac Jack, Jonnivius Smith, Kanye Jones and Kidtrell Blocker are other key components for Jim Whitesell’s rotation. Buffalo shoots 45.7% from the field as a team this season. The Bulls average 7.1 triples a night but are shooting 32.5% from beyond the arc. Buffalo is knocking down a subpar 69.4% of their chances at the charity stripe this year.
