New Orleans Pelicans vs. New York Knicks Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-25-2023

This Saturday, the (30-30) New Orleans Pelicans will travel to New York, NY to take on the (33-27) New York Knicks. Tipoff will be at 7:30 PM EST inside Madison Square Garden. This will be the first meeting between these two teams this regular season, as I am expecting a battle in this one.

The New Orleans Pelicans are coming into this one after falling to the Toronto Raptors, 115-110. They struggled on the offensive end of the court, as they will have to be more efficient in this one if they want to challenge the Knicks on the road.

The New York Knicks are entering this game after taking down the Atlanta Hawks, 122-101. They looked incredible on both ends of the court, as they will have to carry that momentum over into this game if they want to take care of business at home.

This game was written/published before last night's results.

The New Orleans Pelicans are currently in eighth place in the Western Conference standings, as they are 12 games back from the first-place Nuggets. On offense, they are scoring 114.8 points per game and they have shot 47.9% from the floor. This is the 14th most points scored per game and the 11th-highest team shooting percentage. According to dunksandthrees.com, the Pelicans have the 16th-highest adjusted offensive rating in the NBA. CJ McCollum continues to lead the way on the offensive end of the court, as he is scoring 21.2 points per game on 43.6% shooting from the field. New Orleans has also shown that they are more successful when they are attacking the paint. They have only shot 35.6% from deep, which is the 18th-highest three-point shooting percentage in the league. Unfortunately, they haven't been great at the charity stripe either. The Pels have only cashed in on 78% of their shots at the line, which is the 17th-highest free-t hrow shooting percentage in the NBA.

On the defensive end of the court, the Pelicans are allowing 113.5 points per game, and their opponents have only shot 47.4% from the floor. This is the 16th least amount of points surrendered per game and the 15th-lowest shooting percentage allowed. According to dunksandthrees.com, the Pelicans have the ninth-lowest adjusted defensive rating in the NBA. They have continued to contest shots near the rim, but their perimeter defense has been elite. They are forcing their opponents to shoot 33.9% from deep, which is the lowest three-point shooting percentage allowed. New Orleans is also snatching 44.1 rebounds per game, which is the ninth most.
