Air Force Falcons (14-15) vs. UNLV Rebels (16-11)

Week 16 of the 2022-23 NCAA men’s basketball season is in full swing on Friday, February 24, 2023, as the Air Force Falcons take on the UNLV Rebels in this Mountain West Conference showdown at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

These teams have not played since last season when the home team won both contests. The Rebels defeated the Falcons at home on February 8 of last year, 78-44. UNLV was the favorite at -10.5 with the total set at 126.5. A line and total had not been set when this preview was written.

The Air Force Falcons (14-15, 17-12-0 ATS) held a one-point lead over Fresno State heading into the half on Tuesday, but could not hold the lead as the Bulldogs earned a 74-69 victory. The loss dropped the Falcons to 5-11 in the conference. They enter this game 4-7 on the road and 2-4 ATS in their last six.

However, they took just 41 shots in the contest, simply not enough to surpass Fresno State. The Falcons had a solid day shooting all the way around, going 11-13 from the free-throw line. Four players scored in double digits, including Jake Heidbreder, who ha d 17 points off 6-10 shooting and added five rebounds and seven assists.

Air Force is ranked 154th in the KenPom rankings. They are averaging 107.1 points per 100 possessions (136th) and are allowing 105.9 points per 100 possessions (198th). This is an outstanding shooting team, ranked 49th in the nation in field-goal percentage (47.0%) and is hitting 46.5% of their shots in the conference. However, they are averaging just 51 field-goal attempts per game. The Falcons are 104th in the nation at 67.3 points allowed per game.
