The Montreal Canadiens face the Philadelphia Flyers with both teams looking to improve on rough seasons. The Canadiens have a 24-29-4 record and are in last place in the Atlantic Division. The Flyers have a 23-26-10 record and with only three wins in their last 10 games have the second-worst record in the Metropolitan Division. Both teams look to climb out of the bottom of their divisions and the upcoming game should be a good one as a result.

The Canadiens are having a season to forget with their offense struggling, scoring only 2.67 goals per game including only eight goals in the last three games. Nick Suzuki, Kirby Dach, and Christian Dvorak have scored 39 goals and 65 assists but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only three active skaters have 10 goals or more and opposing defenses can eliminate the hapless offense as a result.

The offense has struggled but the defense has also been awful, allowing 3.63 goals per game with 13 goals in the last three games. Johnathan Kovacevic and Jordan Harris have combined for 4.1 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, goaltender Jake Allen has struggled with a .894 save percentage and a 3.47 goals-against average on 1047 shots with -12.1 goals saved above average.
