It’s the regular season finale for a pair of teams in the Sun Belt ahead of next week’s conference tournament on the hardwood in the state of Virginia. The Marshall Thundering Herd makes the short trip across the state line as they take on the Old Dominion Monarchs Friday night. Marshall earned a 92-83 road win over James Madison Wednesday night in their previous contest, winning outright as a one-point favorite. Old Dominion upended Southern Miss 69-64 at home Wednesday night, winning outright as a two-point underdog. In the all-time series between the teams, the teams have split 22 meetings though Marshall won the last two matchups. That includes a 73-65 home win in the first matchup this season on January 14.

Marshall won their fifth straight game as they outgunned James Madison on the road Wednesday night. The Thundering Herd improved to 24-6 overall and stand tied with Southern Miss for the top spot in the conference with a 13-4 mark, though they own the tiebreaker based on a head-to-head win. Against James Madison, Marshall led by one at the half and was in a tight game right down to the final couple of minutes. The Thundering Herd finally put the game away by outscoring the Dukes 7-0 over the final 1:33 to secure the win. Marshall shot 47.6% from the field, including five of 16 from three-point range, and won the game at the charity stripe. The Thundering Herd hit 27 of 34 attempts while the Dukes were 14 of 19. Taevion Kinsey led Marshall with 31 points and seven assists in the win.

The Thundering Herd is 9th in scoring offense as they average 82.7 points per game. Marshall is 11th < /sup>in rebounding by pulling down 39.4 boards per contest and dishes out 17.9 assists per contest (4th) on the season. The Thundering Herd are slightly below average in scoring defense as they are 225th in the country by allowing 71.3 points per game on the year. Taevion Kinsey leads the team with 22.2 points plus 4.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists a night.
