Elon (8-21 SU, 14-13 ATS, 6-10 CAA) is pushing for a stronger seed in the CAA Tournament. They'll face William & Mary (6-23 SU, 11-18 ATS, 5-11 CAA) on Thursday night from Williamsburg in a 7pmET meeting.
These teams met from North Carolina on Feb. 11 with the Phoenix winning 66-55 as a 4-point favorite. Max Mackinnon led Elon with 22 points and nine boards on 9-of-15 shooting.
The Phoenix have really turned things around after a horrific start, where they won two non-Division I games and that was it until Jan. 28 when they beat Drexel at home as a 6-point underdog. They've ripped off six of eight wings with their only losses coming against North Carolina A&T on the road by five at home to Charleston by 22. Basically, the Phoenix are beating up on the lower-echelon teams which is certainly a start for a young team that needs confidence. They beat Monmouth on the road 75-68 as a 1-point dog last Saturday in their previous game. Sean Halloran led the way with 16 points and seven rebounds, while MacKinnon added 12 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Elon held the Hawks to just 38% shooting from the field.

Elon is shooting 42.6% from the field to rank 7th in the CAA and they hold teams to 43.5% (6th). They struggle shooting the three-ball (30.5%) and they defend it fairly well (34.1%, 6th). They also rank 10th out of 13 teams in turnover margin (-0.48). Halloran leads the Phoenix with 13.0 points per game on 40.5% shooting and 4.2 assists. MacKinnon adds 11.7 points and 5.3 rebounds on 49.6% shooting. The 6-5 freshman from Australia has scored in double figures in eight of his last 10 games and is averaging 3.7 assists over his last 10 games.
