Marshall at James Madison – 2/22/23 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The Marshall Thundering Herd will head through the mountains up to Harrisonburg to meet the James Madison Dukes in Sun Belt play from the Atlantic Center on ESPN+. Marshall has won four of five meetings, but JMU did win the first matchup this season.

Marshall improved to 23-6 after beating Troy in Huntington. The Thundering Herd led the Trojans at the break, and held on to win by ten, 88-78. Marshall is scoring 82.4 points per game, while allowing 69.8 ppg, and shooting 46.8% from the field.

Marshall has won four straight games, and a regular season conference championship is still within reach if they have a successful two-game stay in Virginia. The Thundering Herd are 12-4 in Sun Belt play, with a solid 8-4 road record. Marshall is led by the dynamic backcourt pairing of Taevion Kinsey and Andrew Taylor. Kinsley has scored 22 points or more in four of the last five games, and he’s one of the top scorers in the conference at 21.9 ppg, while also leading Marshall in assists (5.3). Taylor has been very consistent alongside him this season, and after scoring 26 points or more in each of the last four games, he’s up to 20.1 ppg. Freshman center Micah Handlogten leads the Herd in rebounding (10.1), while scoring 7.9 ppg.
