Butler at DePaul Prediction – Basketball Picks 2/22/23

The Butler Bulldogs will head up to Chicago to meet the DePaul Blue Demons in Big East play from the Wintrust Center. Butler leads the head-to-head series, 17-6, after winning the last six meetings.

Butler moved to 13-15 after falling to Georgetown in Indianapolis. The Bulldogs led at halftime, but they let the Hoyas march back and ended up falling by six points, 68-62. Butler is scoring 66.5 points per game, while allowing 67.8 ppg, and shooting 44.2% from the floor.

Butler has dropped seven of their last nine games, and they’re set to miss the tournament for the fifth-year in a row, and they continue to be a step behind this tough conference once again. The Bulldogs are 5-12 in Big East play, with a 2-8 road record. Thad Matta’s team is struggling to score on a consistent basis, but Jayden Taylor has come into his own during February. The sophomore guard has scored 19 points or more in each of the past five games, and he leads Butler in scoring (13.1). Second-year swingman Simas Lukosius has reached double figures in eight of the last ten games, and he’s averaging 11.3 ppg and a team-lead 3.0 apg. Leading rebounder Manny Bates missed the Georgetown game, and his status should be monitored heading into Wednesday night.
