The Northern Iowa Panthers are on the road as they make the trip to face the Southern Illinois Salukis Wednesday night. Northern Iowa upended Missouri State 69-66 on the road Saturday in their previous contest, winning outright as a 4.5-point underdog. Southern Illinois fell 50-48 at home to Bradley in their last game Sunday afternoon, failing to cover the line as a 1.5-point underdog in the game. In the all-time series between the programs, the Panthers own a 36-33 advantage and have won five of the last six meetings, including three straight. They prevailed 69-57 at home in the first meeting this season on January 7.

Northern Iowa snapped a six-game skid as they took down Missouri State on the road in a tightly contested battle. The Panthers improved to 13-15 overall and stand eighth in the conference with a 9-9 record heading into this game. Against Missouri State, Northern Iowa led by as many as four in the first half only to trail by five at intermission. The Panthers trailed by seven with 5:24 to play before closing the game strong. Northern Iowa outscored Missouri State 16-6 the rest of the way, including 9-2 over the final 2:10, to secure the victory. The Panthers shot 48.1% from the field, including seven of 18 from three-point range, and held Missouri State to 41.5% from the floor in the game. Bowen Born led the way for Northern Iowa with 21 points in the win.

For the season, Northern Iowa is putting up an average of 70.2 points per contest, putting them 216th in the nation in scoring offense. The Panthers collect an average of 33 rebounds per game and dish out 11.4 assists per contest. Northern Iowa has been slightly above average on the defensive end of the floor as they allow an average of 69.1 points a game this season, putting them 154th in scoring defense. Bowen Born leads the team as he puts up an average of 18 points per game this season. Tytan Anderson (12.6 points, nine rebounds) and Nate Heise (12 points) are solid secondary scoring pieces.
