The Providence Friars (20-7, 17-10 ATS, 14-13 O/U) meet with the Connecticut Huskies (20-7, 16-10-1 ATS, 16-11 O/U) in a Big East showdown on Wednesday evening. The Friars posted a home win against Villanova on Saturday. The Huskies earned a home victory against Seton Hall in their previous bout. Providence recorded a 73-61 win in the first meeting.
The Providence Friars are seeking a third consecutive victory. Providence lost a road decision against St. John’s last weekend and replied by defeating Creighton 94-86 followed by a convincing solid 85-72 home win against Villanova on Saturday to cover the three-point spread. Providence is now 12-4 in Big East play, one game out of first. They have been a reliable squad, covering the spread in six of their last eight games.
Bryce Hopkins continues to dazzle, collecting at least 19 points in three straight games including 29 against St. John’s. The sophomore forward has increased his season average to 16.9 PPG and 9.3 RPG. Devin Carter scored 25 points in the loss to Creighton last week. The sophomore guard has consistently produced all season and has logged an average of 13.4 PPG. Noah Locke has reached 20 points four times in conferenc e play. The senior guard has recorded an average of 11.1 PPG.

Providence is ranked 28th in the country in Ken Pomeroy’s ratings and climbed four spots to #20 in the AP Top 25 rankings this past week. The Friars are 5-5 on the road including a loss to Xavier. Providence has eclipsed 80 points in back-to-back games and is averaging 78.9 points on the year, ranking them 33rd. They are limiting opponents to 69.6 points, placing them 174th.
