VCU at Saint Joseph's – 2/21/23 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The VCU Rams will head up to Philadelphia to take on the Saint Joseph’s Hawks from Hagan Arena on ESPN+. VCU leads the head-to-head series, 10-5, after winning four straight matchups.

Virginia Commonwealth improved to 20-7 after defeating Fordham at The Sieg. VCU jumped on the visitors early in this one, and they’d win their second battle of Rams in a row by 19 points, 80-61. VCU is scoring 69.9 points per game, while allowing 63.3 ppg, and shooting 45.5% from the field.

VCU edged by URI, but the assertive win over Fordham to take sole possession of first place back was very impressive, and they’ll look to build on that here in Philly. VCU sits atop the Atlantic 10 at 11-3, with a 6-3 road record. The Rams have improved as the year has grown, and they’re led by third-year starter Adrian Baldwin Jr. The 6’1 guard responded to a quiet outing at URI with a double-double against Fordham, and he leads the team in scoring (13.0) and assists (5.8). Michigan transfer Brandon Johns Jr. scored a team-high 17 points in the win over Rhode Island, and he’s second on the team at 12.0 ppg and 5.2 rpg. Sophomore forward Jalen Deloach double-doubled against Saint Louis and St. Bonaventure, and he’s up to 9.5 ppg and a team-leading 7.2 rpg.
