Murray State will try to extend its two-game winning streak when it travels to Missouri State on Tuesday night. The Racers are entering the final week of the regular season ranked sixth in the Missouri Valley Conference. Murray State picked up a 74-71 win over the Bears when they met last month.
Murray State is hoping to avoid falling in the standings during the final week of the regular season, as it is sitting in a tie for Missouri State in the standings and is only one game ahead of Northern Iowa. The Racers went through a brutal stretch earlier this month, getting obliterated by Indiana State, Drake and Bradley in consecutive games. They lost all three of those games by 24-plus points, despite being 11-point underdogs or less in each contest. Murray State has responded to that skid with a pair of wins over Illinois State and Evansville, beating the Redbirds as a 1-point underdog.

The Racers have not been shooting the ball well this season, particularly from the perimeter. They are No. 307 nationally in 3-point percentage, knocking down just 31.4% of their attempts. They are also outside the top 200 in 2-point percentage (49.8), but they are good at limiting turnovers. Missouri State has been a solid defensive team, ranked inside the top 140 in field goal percentage, turnover rate and offensive rebounding. Junior guard Rob Perry leads Murray State with 14.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Junior forward Jamari Smith is scoring 11.7 points and grabbing 4.4 rebounds, while sophomore guard JaCobi Wood is adding 10.5 points, 4.5 assists and 4.4 boards.
