The New Jersey Devils face the Pittsburgh Penguins with both teams looking to build off of strong seasons. The Devils have a 35-14-5 record which is second-best in the Metropolitan Division while the Penguins have a 27-17-9 record and are in the middle of the division. Both teams look to improve within the division and the Eastern Conference playoff picture and the upcoming game looks to be a great one as a result.

The Devils are having a great season with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.43 goals per game. Jesper Bratt and Nico Hischier have scored 42 goals and 58 assists to lead the top line but the rest of the offense has also been great. Tomas Tatar, Dawson Mercer, and Yegor Sharangovich have combined for 36 goals and 48 assists while defenseman Dougie Hamilton has added 15 goals and 37 assists from the point to put the offense over the top.

The offense has been great but the defense has carried the Devils in recent games, allowing only 2.65 goals per game with only 10 goals in the last four games. Ryan Graves and Jonas Seigenthaler have combined for 7.9 defensive point shares and 200 blocked shots while Damon Severson, John Marino, and Dougie Hamilton have combined for 8.2 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. Additionally, goaltender Vitek Vanecek has stepped up with a .916 sa ve percentage and a 2.31 goals-against average on 898 shots with 9.6 goals saved above average.
