TCU vs. Iowa State Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-15-2023

The Iowa State Cyclones play host to the TCU Horned Frogs on Tuesday night in a crucial Big 12 clash from James H. Hilton Coliseum. TCU enters this one with a 17-8 record, while the Cyclones sit at 16-8, with only a game separating the two in the Big 12 standings. For TCU, they're riding a three-game winning streak, while the Cyclones have their own two-game skid they're looking to bust out of. Just last month, the Cyclones sprung the road upset by two and there's little doubt that the Horned Frogs will be eyeing revenge in the rematch.

TCU continues to find itself ranked, even despite the struggles of the last few weeks. They've lost three in a row heading into this one and four of their last five overall, knowing that they need to snap out of their current losing skid. The Horned Frogs continue to be a definite tournament team but need to find a way to get momentum going back in the right direction after a solid start to 2023. TCU has struggled on the road this season as well, where they have a 3-5 record in true road games. Going to Iowa State also presents a road game that has been tough for the Horned Frogs to find success in over the last few years. After losing at home in the first meeting between the two this season, they'll be wanting to return the favor on Wednesday.

TCU's recent struggles can definitely be connected to some of the injuries that they continue to deal with. Mike Miles Jr. (knee) continues to be out indefinitely, while Eddie Lampkin Jr. (ankle) is questionable for this mid-week matchup. With Miles Jr. being their leading scorer and Lampkin one of their frontcourt threats, TCU could be hard-pressed to find success in this one.

TCU's balance on both sides of the ball has helped lead to their success this season and while they haven't turned many heads on either side, they don't have a weakness either. They rank 73rd in scoring and just outside the top 100 in scoring defense, though they'll need to be sharp on the glass against the Cyclones. With a clean bill of health, they'd like their chances in this one but with the injuries mentioned earlier, they could struggle to find a spark. Damion Baugh (13.2 ppg) and Emanuel Miller (12.9 ppg) figure to carry the load in this one but they'll certainly need someone to stop up if they want to grab the upset on the road.
