Virginia vs. Louisville Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-15-2023

No. 7 Virginia will try to extend its two-game winning streak when it travels to Louisville on Wednesday night. The Cavaliers are trying to remain atop the ACC standings as they head down the home stretch of the regular season. Louisville has lost 13 of its 14 conference games and is riding a three-game losing streak.

Virginia has been able to re-establish itself as a national title contender this season, starting with an eight-game winning streak to open the campaign. The Cavaliers lost three of their next five games, but two of those losses came against ranked opponents. They have responded by winning nine of their 10 games since then and have bounced back from a loss at Virginia Tech with a pair of wins over then-No. 22 North Carolina State and Duke. Their win over the Blue Devils on Saturday was one of the most thrilling conference games of the season, as they won in overtime.

They have been a solid offensive team this season, ranked No. 26 in KenPom’s adjusted efficiency ratings. Virginia’s strength has been its low turnover rate, sitting at ninth nationally in that category. It has also been excellent from the perimeter, knocking down nearly 38% of its 3-pointers. The Cavaliers are facing a Louisville defense that is No. 335 in field goal percentage and No. 291 in turnover rate. Senior guard Armaan Franklin leads a balanced Virginia lineup with 12.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per game, while Kihei Clark (11.6), Jayden Gardner (11.3) and Reece Beekman (10.0) are each scoring in double figures as well.
