Washington Wizards vs. Golden State Warriors Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-13-2023

Once Upon A Time In Las Vegas – Super Bowl

Interconference foes will meet for the final time when the Washington Wizards take on the Golden State Warriors in the Bay Area. Both teams are ninth in their respective conference heading into this matchup, and both are clinging to a play-in spot by just one game. Washington enters the game having won their last two, covering the spread in each game. Golden State has dropped their last two and did not cover as favorites in the most recent game. When these clubs crossed paths in January, the Warriors won and covered as 2.5-point favorites on the road. The over also hit by 9.5 points. Chase Center is the venue, with tipoff set for 10:00 p.m. EST.

In the last three games they've both played in, one of Bradley Beal or Kristaps Porzingis has had at least 30 points. Against Portland, both of them did. During that stretch, they're combining to average 56.0 points per game for the Wizards.

Washington's latest game was against the Pacers in DC, and the Wizards cruised to a 14-point win. They led by 23 at the half and never looked back. Bradley Beal stole the show, finishing with 32 points on 13/18 shooting and 4/5 shooting from beyond the arc. He did not play against the Warriors in January. Kristaps Porzingis also finished with a double-double, tallying 17 points and 10 rebounds. As a team, Washington shot 64.0% from the field and 46.2% from three.

Kyle Kuzma is questionable for this game with an ankle injury. He's been a key piece for the Wizards, starting the most games of anyone on the roster so far and averaging 21.3 points a night.

The Wizards are 16th in offensive rating this season. Their three-point shooting isn't normally a strength, as they are 20th in makes per game and 22nd in three-point attempts. Their three-point percentage is 19th. Where they excel is in the paint. They are eighth in the NBA  in team field goal percentage at 48.2% because they lead the league in field goal percentage at the rim. They make 67.7% of their shot attempts within five feet of the basket.

On defense, Washington is 15th in defensive rating. They hold foes to 46.4% shooting and 52.9% effective field goal percentage, both fifth in the NBA. They only put opponents to the free-throw line 22.5 times per game, eighth in the league. They also average 5.5 blocks per g ame, fourth in the league.
