Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Toronto Maple Leafs Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-11-2023

Once Upon A Time In Las Vegas – Super Bowl

The Columbus Blue Jackets face the Toronto Maple Leafs with both teams on opposite ends of the standings to start the second half of the season. The Blue Jackets have a 15-32-4 record and are in last place in the Metropolitan Division while the Maple Leafs have a 31-13-8 record and are in second place in the Atlantic Division. Both teams are looking to start the second half of the season on the right foot and the upcoming game should be a good one as a result.

The Blue Jackets are having a season to forget with their offense struggling and scoring only 2.55 goals per game. Johnny Gaudreau, Patrik Laine, and Jack Roslovic have scored 32 goals and 75 assists but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only five active skaters have 10 goals or more and opposing defenses can eliminate the hapless offense as a result.

The offense has been awful but the defense has let the Blue Jackets down this season, allowing 3.86 goals per game. Vladislav Gavrikov and Andrew Peeke have combined for 3.5 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, goaltender Elvis Merzlikins has struggled with a .870 save percentage and a 4.42 goals-against average on 630 shots with -22.7 goals saved above average.
