The offense has been great but the defense has also stepped up, allowing only 2.96 goals per game. Hedman and Sergachev have combined for 5.8 defensive point shares and 186 blocked shots while Ian Cole, Nicklaus Perbix, and Erik Cernak have combined for 6.0 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. Additionally, goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy has been great with a .918 save percentage and a 2.56 goals-against average on 1183 shots with 14.4 goals saved above average.
