Boise State had their win streak snapped in their last game and look to stay in the Mountain West Conference race hosting Wyoming, who is in the conference basement.
Wyoming has lost two in a row and were beaten badly at home by Boise State several games back. They are 2-9 in MWC play and 7-16, overall, and have lost their last two games by double digits.
Boise State had won three in a row before a loss to a ranked San Diego State team in their last game. They are in third place in the MWC 1.5 games back of SDSU and 18-6 overall. And led by a defense that is only giving up an average of 61.2 ppg.
In their last game Wyoming was at home in a 69-59 loss to UNLV where they played great defense but their 3-pointers did not fall. They held the Rebels to 33.3% shooting but they only shot 38.5%, were outscored from the free throw line by 11 points, and they missed 20 of their 25 3-pointers. Hunter Maldonado led the way in the loss with 17 points on 6-12 shooting while the other four starters were a combined 12-34 from the floor.
The Cowboys failed to cover the spread as a 3.5-point underdog and they have failed to cover in three of the last four games including the last two.
Wyoming is averaging 70 ppg and giving up an average of 71.9 ppg. Noah Reynolds (14.5 ppg) is one of two players averaging over 8 ppg and was recently lost for the season with concussion issues. Maldonado (14.1 ppg) has totaled 51 points on solid shooting in the last two games where he has eight turnovers. Hunter Thompson (7.3 ppg 5.3 rpg) is the leading rebounder and in the last two games has only totaled five points and six rebounds. In Wyoming’s 85-68 home loss to Boise State in the middle of last month they only shot 43.9% from the floor allowing the Broncos to shoot 48.5%. On the season the Cowboys are 6-6 at home.
