Atlanta Hawks vs. New Orleans Pelicans Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-7-2023

Atlanta will try to get back above the .500 mark overall this season when it travels to New Orleans on Tuesday night. The Hawks had their two-game winning streak snapped in a 128-108 loss to Denver on Saturday. New Orleans has bounced back from its 10-game losing skid with a pair of wins over the Lakers and Kings.

Atlanta’s season continues to be defined by inconsistency, as it has been unable to stay above the .500 mark. The Hawks have been within four games of the break-even mark throughout the entire season, despite going on a five-game winning streak in mid-January. They have lost five of their eight games since then, falling back to the .500 mark in a 128-108 loss to Denver on Saturday. Atlanta was on the second leg of a back-to-back after beating Utah the prior evening. This is the final game of a five-game road trip for Atlanta before it returns home for games against Phoenix and San Antonio.

The Hawks trailed Denver by 18 points at halftime before pulling within eight points in the fourth quarter. They were playing without star guard and leading scorer Trae Young, who was sidelined due to an illness. Dejounte Murray stepped up with 28 points and De’Andre Hunter added 20, but the offense was inconsistent without Young. Tuesday’s injury report does not have Young listed, which is good news for the Hawks. He has scored 20-plus points in seven consecutive appearances, averaging 26.3 points, 10.0 assists and 3.1 rebounds during that stretch. Atlanta has been an excellent offensive team, ranked eighth in the NBA in scoring (116.3). It is facing a New Orleans defense that is No. 15, allowing 113.7 points per game.
