South Carolina vs. Missouri Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-7-2023

SEC action continues on Tuesday night as the South Carolina Gamecocks get set to take on the Missouri Tigers. South Carolina enters this contest at 8-15 (11-12 ATS) while Missouri is currently 17-6 (12-10-1 ATS). Tipoff is scheduled for 9:00 ET from Mizzou Arena in Columbia, MO.

South Carolina was on the wrong end of a 65-63 affair when they hosted Arkansas on Saturday. The loss pushed the Gamecocks to 1-9 in conference play, where they’ve now dropped seven straight contests. If you’re looking for a silver lining, South Carolina’s two-point defeat saw them cover the +12.5-point spread. As for the total, the 128 points came in under the pregame mark of 135.0 points. The duo of Josh Gray and Meechie Johnson powered the offense for South Carolina, each dropping 20 points. Gray recorded a double-double courtesy of the 14 rebounds he secured.

The 20/14 performance from Gray was an anomaly, as the forward is averaging just 4.1 points per game along with 5.3 rebounds. However, it’s worth noting that he leads the team with 0.9 blocks per game. The top contributor for South Carolina has been Gregory Jackson II, who is averaging 15.8 points per game and also leads the team with 6.7 rebounds per contest.

As you can imagine based on their current form, the analytics community is not high on the Gamecocks this year. They’re currently ranked 243rd in the KenPom rankings, posting an adjusted efficiency margin of -6.25. As for the baseline stats, South Carolina is scoring 63.7 points per game and shooting just 39.4% from the field.
