DePaul vs. Seton Hall Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-5-2023

DePaul will try to snap it four-game losing streak when it travels to Seton Hall on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Demons had three of those losses come against ranked opponents, including a 90-76 setback against No. 24 UConn on Tuesday. Seton Hall has won six of its last seven games, beating St. John’s by 12 points on Wednesday.

DePaul has never really managed to get anything going on a consistent basis this season, failing to string together consecutive wins since the first weekend of December. The Blue Demons have been able to pick up three wins in Big East play, beating Georgetown, Villanova and then-No. 8 Xavier at home. They have not won a conference game away from home, though, and are riding a four-game losing streak coming into this matchup. DePaul’s defense has been atrocious during the losing skid, allowing an average of 83.8 points on 48.9% shooting. The Blue Demons have allowed at least 80 points nine times this season.

Their offense has been a little better, ranked No. 114 in KenPom’s adjusted offensive efficiency ratings. Their shooting splits have been confusing, as they are No. 310 in 2-point percentage (46.5) and No. 60 in 3-point percentage (36.2). They have done a good job of converting at the charity stripe, knocking down 76.0% of their attempts. This will be a tough matchup, as Seton Hall has the No. 14 defense in adjusted efficiency. Senior guard Umoja Gibson leads DePaul with 15.8 points, 5.0 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game. Senior forward Javan Johnson is scoring 15.1 points, while junior forward Da’Sean Nelson is also in double figures with 10.6 points.
