Columbia vs. Penn Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-3-2023

Two Ivy League foes meet Friday as the Pennsylvania Quakers host the Columbia Lions. The Quakers are 11-11 overall and 3-4 in the Ivy League while the Lions are 6-16 overall and 1-6 in the league. Penn destroyed Columbia 84-55 at Columbia back on January 7 as a 9.5 point favorite. Tipoff is at 7:00 p.m. at the Palestra in Philadelphia.

The season started off promising for Columbia as they won their first Ivy League game, beating perennial contender Yale 62-60. But it has been all downhill from there as Columbia has lost six straight games and none of the games have been very close. The worst beatdown of all came at the hands of these Quakers on January 7, who throttled them 84-55.

The Lions are coming off an 83-73 loss at Dartmouth last Saturday. They failed to cover as an 8.5 point underdog. Columbia shot decently from the floor, making 45.3 percent of its shots overall while going 10 for 25 from 3-point range. Geronimo Rubio De La Rosa led the Lions with  19 points on 8 for 11 shooting. Liam Murphy added 13 points. Rubio De La Rosa leads the team with 13 points per game. Columbia is ranked No. 344th in the country by KenPom.
