Chattanooga at Furman – 2/1/23 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The Chattanooga Mocs will head down to Greenville to meet the Furman Paladins in SoCon play from the Timmons Arena on ESPN+. Chattanooga leads the all-time series, 55-36, but Furman beat the Mocs a couple of weeks ago in Tennessee, 77-69.

Chattanooga moved to 12-11 after beating in-state foe East Tennessee State on the road. The Mocs used a big second half to pull away from the Bucs and pick up a nine-point victory. Chattanooga is scoring 78.1 points per game, while allowing 70.7 ppg, and shooting 45.5% from the floor.

Chattanooga finally got back into the win column, but they face an uphill battle here in Greenville with the first-placed Paladins. VMI transfer Jake Stephens has been the biggest source of production for the Mocs, but after missing the ETSU game, his status absolutely must be monitored coming into this one. The 7’ center leads the team in scoring (21.8), rebounding (10.2), and assists (3.6). Former Auburn guard Jamal Johnson scored 22 points against Wofford and he’s up to 13.5 ppg.
