New Mexico Lobos (19-3) vs. Utah State Aggies (17-5)

The 2022-23 college basketball season goes on Wednesday, February 1, with the New Mexico Lobos taking on the Utah State Aggies in the Mountain West Conference showdown at Dee Glen Smith Spectrum in Logan, Utah.

The Lobos and Aggies lock horns for the first time this term, and Utah State shoots for its sixth straight victory over New Mexico. The Aggies open as 4.5-point home favorites, while the totals are listed at 156.0 points.

After stopping their four-game winning streak with a heartbreaking 97-94 double-overtime defeat at Nevada on January 23, the New Mexico Lobos (19-3; 12-8-1 ATS; 6-3 conf.) returned to winning ways this past Friday. They beat Air Force 81-73 but failed to cover a 12.5-point spread in front of the home fans.

The Lobos blew a double-digit first-half lead against the Falcons. Junior guard Jamal Mashburn Jr. took over in the crunch time and finished with 24 points, while senior guard Jaelen House posted a line of 19 points, six steals, five rebounds, and four assists. The Lobos made 52.8% of their field goals and 76.9% of their free throws (20-for-26) but went just 5-for-17 from beyond the 3-point line.

New Mexico fell off the AP Top 25 Poll following that tough loss at Nevada. The Lobos are No. 30 in the NCAA NET Rankings and No. 45 in the KenPom rankings. They score 113.7 points per 100 possessions (35th in the country) on 49.1% shooting from the field (11th) while allowing 98.8 points in return (70th) on 50.0% shooting from inside the arc (210th) and 30.1% from downtown (36th).
