Connecticut (UCONN) vs. DePaul Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 1-31-2023

The Connecticut Huskies (16-6, 13-8-1 ATS, 14-8 O/U) battle the DePaul Blue Demons (9-13, 10-11-1 ATS, 10-11 O/U) in a Big East showdown on Tuesday night. The Huskies were dealt a home loss by #13 Xavier on Wednesday. The Blue Demons dropped a home decision against Marquette last time out. UConn defeated DePaul in both meetings last season.

The Connecticut Huskies are in need of a winning streak. They have now lost six out of their last eight games overall to plummet to 5-6 in Big East action. It’s hard to believe this squad was ranked as one of the best squads in DI at one point but has fallen apart in conference play. UConn defeated Butler by an 86-56 score last weekend but were six-point favorites in an 82-79 home loss to Xavier last time out. They have only covered the spread three times in Big East action.

Adama Sanogo has recorded three double-doubles in Big East play. The junior forward has connected on at least 50% in all but one conference game and is averaging 16.9 PPG along with 7.3 RPG. Jordan Hawkins continues to produce, scoring 20 and 28 points respectively in his last two games. The sophomore guard has increased his season average to 16.1 PPG. Donovan Clingan has only scored a total of 13 points in his last four games. The freshman center has filed an average of 8.2 PPG and 6 RPG.

The Huskies are ranked sixth in DI in Ken Pomeroy’s ratings and dipped five spots to #24 in this week's AP Top 25 rankings. UConn is 2-4 on the road including a loss to Seton Hall. The Huskies are scoring an average of 79.3 points on the season, marking them 33rd. The defense has not been as effective in conference play and they are conceding an average of 64.4 points, placing them 51st.
