Northwestern Wildcats (15-5) vs. Iowa Hawkeyes (13-8)

The college hoops betting action goes on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, with the Northwestern Wildcats facing off against the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Big Ten Conference showdown at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. 

The Wildcats and Hawkeyes lock horns for the first time this season, and Iowa aims for its ninth consecutive victory over Northwestern. The Hawkeyes open as 7.5-point home favorites, while the totals sit at 149.0 points.   

The Northwestern Wildcats (15-5; 12-8 ATS; 6-3 conf.) are coming off Saturday’s 81-61 thrashing of the Minnesota Golden Gophers. It was their third victory in a row, and the Wildcats dominated the Gophers all day, making 51.7% of their field goals (9-for-20 from deep) to go with an excellent 16/4 assist-to-turnover ratio. 

Senior guard Chase Audige led the way for Northwestern last Saturday, notching 24 points on 9-for-14 shooting from the field. Boo Buie, a 6-foot-2 senior guard, had 21 points and eight assists, while senior forward Robbie Beran tallied 14 points and three rebounds. Audige and Buie combine for 31.5 points and 7.5 assists a night this season. 

Northwestern is No. 40 in the NCAA NET Rankings and No. 43 in the KenPom rankings. The Wildcats lean on their stingy defense and surrender 94.1 points per 100 possessions (22nd in the nation). They rank seventh in the country in opposing 2-point percentage (43.1%), 42nd in blocks per game (4.6), and 48th in steals per game (8.3). The Wildcats score 109.2 points per 100 possessions (88th) on 45.9% shooting from inside the arc (334th) and 32.7% from downtown (262nd).
