Once Upon A Time In Las Vegas – Championship Sunday

Toronto Raptors (23-28) vs. Phoenix Suns (26-25)

The 2022-23 NBA season continues Monday, January 30, with the Toronto Raptors taking on the Phoenix Suns in the cross-conference battle at Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona, and the tip-off is set for 9:00 PM ET.

Toronto missed Otto Porter (foot) and Dalano Banton (hip), while OG Anunoby is doubtful to play due to a wrist injury. On the other side, the Suns are without Devin Booker (groin), Cameron Payne (foot), and Landry Shamet (foot).

The Toronto Raptors (23-28; 26-25 ATS) bounced back from a 129-117 defeat at the Golden State Warriors, defeating the Portland Trail Blazers 123-105 as 3-point road underdogs this past Saturday. The Raptors outscored the Blazers 37-14 in the first quarter and 35-22 in the fourth to grab their third victory in four games.

Precious Achiuwa notched a career-high 27 points against Portland. He also had 13 rebounds and a couple of steals. Pascal Siakam accounted for 24 points, Scottie Barnes double-doubled with 18 points and ten rebounds, while Fred VanVleet posted a line of 11 points, nine assists, six rebounds, and four steals. The Raptors made 52.2% of their field goals (10-for-30 from deep) and committed just eight turnovers while scoring a thumping 68 points in the paint.

“Achiuwa was in the right place at the right time a lot tonight and that’s a good sign that he’s making himself available,” Toronto coach Nick Nurse said. “He made really good reads and teammates found him and he made a couple of plays on his own.”

The Raptors are still sitting at the 12th spot in the Eastern Conference, one game behind the No. 10 seed. They rank tenth in the league in adjusted offensive efficiency, tallying 115.3 points per 100 possessions. The Raptors surrender 114.6 points in return (tied-18th in the NBA) on 49.0% shooting from the field (28th).
