The Northern Iowa Panthers will travel to the Hulman Center on Saturday afternoon in a Missouri Valley Conference matchup to take on the Indiana State Sycamores. The Panthers are 12-9 (8-3) so far this season and are riding a three-game winning streak after a 77-66 home win on Wednesday against the Valp araiso Beacons. The Sycamores are 13-9 (6-5) right now and are on a five-game losing streak after coming off a 70-68 road loss against the Drake Bulldogs on Tuesday. They also will play in Northern Iowa on February 11 so this can be an interesting test. 

The Northern Iowa Panthers have been playing well and were able to pick up a 77-66 home victory against the Valparaiso Beacons. They did extremely well in the opening half as they outscored Valparaiso 45-28. They shot the ball at a great level as they were 24-of-48 (50 percent) overall, 6-of-17 (35.3 percent) from three, and 28 free-throw attempts. Sophomore guard Bowen Born led the team as in 37 minutes he finished with 18 points, three rebounds, one assist, one steal, and four turnovers. Defensively, they did an outstanding job as they allowed 37.9 percent from the floor and 25.8 from deep here. Northern Iowa needs to improve as they finished with four steals and a single block throughout the game after forcing 10 turnovers. 

The Northern Iowa Panthers are doing very w ell this season as they are 205th in the nation with 70.5 points per game thus far and shooting a solid 45.7 percent from the floor and are averaging 11.7 assists per game. Defensively, they are giving up 66.3 points per game, which is 90th in the country. They have to improve as they are averaging just 1.4 blocks and 6.9 steals per game thus far.
