Montreal Canadiens vs. Ottawa Senators Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 1-28-2023

Once Upon A Time In Las Vegas – Championship Sunday

The Montreal Canadiens face the Ottawa Senators with both teams looking to improve from rough seasons. The Canadiens have a 20-25-4 record and are in last place in the Atlantic Division while the Senators have a 21-23-3 record which is second-worst in the division. Both teams look to improve in the division and the Eastern Conference and the upcoming game should be a great one as a result.

The Canadiens are having a season to forget with their offense struggling and scoring only 2.57 goals per game. Nick Suzuki, Kirby Dach, and Christian Dvorak have scored 33 goals and 57 assists but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only three active skaters have nine goals or more and opposing defenses can eliminate the hapless offense as a result.

The offense has struggled but the defense has let the Canadiens down this season, allowing 3.65 goals per game with eight goals in the last two games. Johnathan Kovacevic, Arber Xhekaj, and David Savard have combined for 4.4 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to carry the puck into the offensive zone and easily find open shots on the net. The bright spot has been the play of goaltender Sam Montembeault who has a .910 save percentage and a 3.14 goals-against average on 723 shots.
