Detroit Pistons vs. Brooklyn Nets Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 1-26-2023

Detroit will try to snap its four-game losing streak when it travels to Brooklyn on Thursday night. The Pistons are coming off their worst defensive performance of the season, giving up 150 points in a loss to Milwaukee on Monday. Brooklyn had its two-game winning streak snapped in a 137-133 loss to Philadelphia on Wednesday.

Detroit lost 15 of its first 18 games this season and has been near the bottom of the standings overall since then. The Pistons have dropped seven of their last eight games coming into this matchup, with their lone win coming against Minnesota two weeks ago. They have lost their four games since then, falling to the Pelicans, Knicks, Bulls and Bucks. Detroit was abysmal on the defensive end of the court in its loss to Milwaukee, as the Bucks scored a season-high 150 points. They came within two points of setting the NBA record for first-quarter points and rolled the rest of the way. Detroit will now go on the road for the first time since Jan. 10 when it lost to Philadelphia in a 31-point blowout.

The Pistons trailed Milwaukee by 25 points at the end of the first quarter on Monday, as Giannis Antetokounmpo made all six of his shots. Bojan Bogdanovic scored 33 points while rookie Jalen Duren scored a season-best 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. The Pistons have won an Eastern Conference-low 12 games and are sitting only ahead of Houston in the overall standings. They have not been a good offensive team this season, ranked No. 24 in scoring (112.4). This will be a tough matchup, as they are facing a Brooklyn defense that ranks fifth (110.7). Bogdanovic leads Detroit with 21.5 points per game, while rookie Jaden Ivey is adding 15.1 points.
