The Boston Bruins are on the road as they make the trip to take on the Tampa Bay Lightning Thursday night. Boston comes in off a 4-2 road win over Montreal in their previous game Tuesday night. Tampa Bay doubled up Minnesota 4-2 at home in their most recent contest Tuesday night. In the last 10 meetings between the teams, the Bruins own a 5-2-3 advantage, including a 3-1 home victory in the most recent meeting on November 29, 2022. That was the latest in a string of five straight wins for the Bruins in the series.

Boston ran their win streak to six games and have won 10 of their last 11 games after knocking off Montreal on the road Tuesday night in their last game. The Bruins entered Wednesday holding a 14-point lead on Toronto for the top spot in the Atlantic Division standings. Boston is tied for 1st in scoring as they average 3.81 goals per game on the season. The Bruins are 1st in goals against as they allow 2.02 goals per contest. Boston is 2nd in power play success as they have cashed in 27.2% of their chances with the man advantage on the year. The Bruins are 1st in penalty killing as they successfully navigate through 86.7% of their shorthanded situations on the season.

Against Montreal, Boston had their struggles but took the lead for good in the third period en route to the victory. The Bruins held an 11-7 edge in shots on goal in the opening period but th e game was scoreless after 20 minutes of action. In the second period, Boston held a 12-7 shot advantage with both teams scoring once, keeping the game even, this time at one, after 40 minutes. After falling behind 1-0, Taylor Hall tied the game with a power play goal, his 14th of the season, at 14:12 off assists from David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy. The third period saw the Bruins outshot by an 8-6 margin but they outscored Montreal 3-1 to earn the victory. David Krejci gave Boston a 2-1 lead with his 12th goal of the season at 9:45 off assists from Pastrnak and Pavel Zacha. After Montreal tied the game less than two minutes later, Patrice Bergeron gave Boston the lead for good with his 18th goal of the season at 17:05 off assists from Brad Marchand and Pastrnak. Pastrnak closed the scoring and iced the win with an empty net goal, his 37th of the year, at 19:11 off an assist from Krejci. Jeremy Swayman made 20 saves for the Bruins, who held a 29-22 edge in shots on goal, in the win. Linus Ullmark is expected to get the start in goal for this contest.
