Chicago State at Stanford Prediction – Basketball Picks for 1/25/23

The Chicago State Cougars will travel to Palo Alto and face the Stanford Cardinal in non-conference play from the Maples Pavilion on the Pac-12 Network. This will mark the first time these two programs face off.

Chicago State moved to 5-16 after beating Coastal Carolina in Conway. The Cougars managed to lead at the break, and they held on to defeat the Chanticleers by four points. Chicago State is scoring 67.1 points per game, while allowing 73.7 ppg, shooting 41.4% from the field.

Chicago State comes into the palm trees on the heels of their best win of the season, but that glory may be short-lived. The Cougars haven’t won many games this season, but they’ve been able to capitalize as underdogs this season over a handful of times. CSU is led by a pair of sophomore guards in Wesley Cardet Jr. and Jahsean Corbett. Cardet Jr, a Samford transfer, scored a team-high 21 points in the win over Coastal, and he leads the Cougs with 16.1 ppg. Corbett has grabbed double digit rebounds in five of the last seven games, and he’s averaging 13.1 ppg and 9.2 rpg.  Dayton transfer Elijah Weaver brings over 120 games of experience to the lineup, and he’s posting personal-best of 11.8 ppg and 4.3 rpg.
