Newcastle have not been as fluent offensively since the World Cup break, although they have maintained their outstanding defensive standards and last weekend's goalless tie at Crystal Palace was their 9th shutout in 10 games.
Southampton remains bottom of the EPL standings after Saturday's 1-0 home loss to Aston Villa and it is hard to see the Saints' forwards causing many problems for Newcastle.
