Davidson vs. La Salle Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 1-24-2023

Davidson will be hoping to get back on track when it travels to La Salle on Tuesday night. The Wildcats are riding a four-game losing streak following a 68-61 setback at Dayton last Tuesday. La Salle has lost three straight games, including an 84-71 loss to Saint Louis on Saturday.

Davidson raced out to a 6-1 start this season, including wins over South Carolina and San Francisco. The Wildcats have been in a losing stretch ever since then, losing nine of their last 12 games. Their three wins have come against Western Carolina, Fordham and Loyola Chicago, with the win over the Ramblers coming on Jan. 4. They have dropped their four games since then, falling to VCU, Richmond, George Mason and Dayton. Davidson was a 2.5-point favorite against Richmond and was a single-digit favorite against VCU and George Mason. The Wildcats were able to cover the 11-point spread in their 68-61 loss to Dayton last Tuesday.

They have been an inconsistent offensive team this season, ranked No. 210 in effective field goal percentage (49.7). Davidson has been particularly bad from the perimeter, ranked No. 340 of 363 Division I teams in 3-point percentage (29.5). The Wildcats have been much better from 2-point range (52.5) and the charity stripe (74.0), ranked inside the top 100 in both categories. They also have a low turnover rate, but they have not done a good job of grabbing offensive rebounds (No. 297). Senior guard Foster Loyer leads Davidson with 15.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. Junior forward Sam Mennenga is grabbing 15.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, while sophomore guard Desmond Watson is adding 10.2 points.
