Texas at West Virginia Prediction – Basketball Picks 1/21/23

The Texas Longhorns will head out to Morgantown and face the West Virginia Mountaineers in Big 12 play from the WVU Coliseum on ESPN. West Virginia and Texas have faced off 25 times, and the Longhorns lead the all-time series, 15-10, after winning both meetings last season.

Texas fell to 15-3 after losing to Iowa State in Ames. The Longhorns were the latest Big 12 power to fall victim to the Cyclones after falling apart in the second half, and losing by eleven points. Texas is scoring 80.7 points per game, while allowing 66.7 ppg, and shooting 48.2% from the floor.

Texas has been kind of shaky since the dismissal of head coach Chris Beard, finding themselves in a handful of nail biters, while dropping a pair of games as well. This trip to Morgantown will be interesting after falling apart on the road versus the Cyclones. Marcus Carr and Tyrese Hunter form a nice tandem in the backcourt. Carr brings a ton of experience to the lineup, and after scoring 22 points in the win over TTU, he leads Texas in scoring (17.1) and assists (4.3). Hunter, an Iowa State transfer, scored 29 points in the overtime loss to KSU, and he’s averaging 10.6 ppg. Timmy Allen has reached double figures in five of the last six games, and he leads the Longhorns in rebounding (5.5).
