Once Upon A Time In Las Vegas – Divisional Round

UNCW (15-6 SU, 11-7-1 ATS) travels to Long Island to take on Stony Brook (7-12, 10-7 ATS) on Saturday at 1pmET from Island Federal Credit Union Arena.

It's the Seahawks of UNCW (5-3 CAA) against the Seawolves of Stony Brook (3-3 CAA) for the first time in conference play.

No. 18 Charleston has won 19 straight games, but they were taken to the limit by UNCW at Trask Coliseum on Jan. 11. The Seahawks had control early but fell late, 71-69 and then wound up losing to William & Mary at home by two as a 12-point favorite possibly due to a hangover effect. They did bounce back to beat Elon, but only by eight as a 14.5-point favorite on Jan. 16. On January 19, the Seahawks traveled up to Long Island and were thrashed by Hofstra 70-46 as a 3-point dog.

This was a tie game at the half at 30-all and Hofstra just dominated the second half 40-16. UNCW just went completely cold, shooting 31.6% in the final 20 minutes. Maleeck Harden-Hayes led the way with 13 points and five rebounds on 5-of-7 shooting.

“We just came out and decided we didn't want to play any defense,” said head coach Takayo Siddle to UNCWsports.com. “Those guards went to work on us and got anything they wanted. We've got to be better.

“We just have to figure this thing out. We just didn't compete. It was one of the worst team defensive games that we've had.”

The Seahawks are led by Trazerian White, who averages 13.7 points per game and 5.9 rebounds on 47.1% shooting (30.4% 3pt). UNCW averages 69.7 points per game on 44.5% shooting (33.1% 3pt). They allow 63.5 points per game on 42% shooting (30.3% 3pt).
