The Vanderbilt Commodores are on the road as they travel to face the Georgia Bulldogs Saturday afternoon. Vanderbilt comes in off a 78-66 home loss to #4 Alabama Tuesday night in their previous contest, failing to cover the line as a nine-point underdog. Georgia fell apart in the second half against Kentucky, losing 85-71 on the road and failing to cover as an 11.5-point underdog. In the all-time series between the teams, Vanderbilt owns an 84-49 advantage and has won the last three meetings, including an 86-51 rout in the SEC Tournament in the most recent matchup on March 9, 2022.

Vanderbilt hung around with #4 Alabama for most of the first half but didn’t have an answer when the Crimson Tide got themselves into gear. The Commodores dropped to 9-9 overall and stand ninth in the SEC with a 2-3 mark entering this game. Against Alabama, Vanderbilt trailed 13-3 less than six minutes into the game, rallied to take a 22-21 lead with 8:06 to play in the half and promptly was blitzed 15-4 to trail by 10 at intermission. The Commodores trailed by as many as 23 in the second half and got no closer than six, with that coming in the final minute of play. Vanderbilt shot just 30.1% from the field, including a six of 33 showing from beyond the arc, and lost the rebounding battle 47-43 in the game. Tyrin Lawrence had 20 points and five rebounds to lead the team in a losing effort.

On the season, the Commodores rack up an average of 72.5 points per game so far this season, which is 16 1st in the nation.
