Philadelphia 76ers (28-16) vs. Portland Trail Blazers (21-23)
The Philadelphia 76ers continue their five-game road trip Thursday, January 19, when they square off against the Portland Trail Blazers in the cross-conference battle at Moda Center in Portland, Oregon, with the tip-off at 10:00 PM ET.
Philadelphia and Portland lock horns for the first time this season, and the 76ers open as small 2.5-point road favorites with a total of 234.0 points. The visitors are coming in full strength, while the Trail Blazers are missing Justise Winslow (ankle).
The Philadelphia 76ers (28-16; 25-19 ATS) started their current road trip with a 118-117 victory against the Utah Jazz this past Saturday. They outlasted the Los Angeles Lakers 113-112 on Sunday and beat the LA Clippers 120-110 on Tuesday night. After scoring 35 points against Purple-and-Gold, Joel Embiid dropped 41 on the Clippers, and the Sixers overcame a rare bad performance from James Harden, who had just six points, nine assists, and three rebounds on the night.
The 76ers outscored the Clippers 30-21 in the fourth quarter and upset the odds as slight 1.5-point underdogs. They shot 53.4% from the field (13-for-31 from deep), while Tyrese Maxey had a great game, finishing with 22 points and a plus-23 net rating off the bench.
“I was just trying to start off strong bec ause what I’ve come to find out is that my energy kind of drives the whole team,” said Embiid, who notched 26 points in the first half. “If I’m at least being aggressive offensively and defensively, my teammates are going to pick up no matter if I make shots or not.”
