The Appalachian State Mountaineers (10-9, 8-8 ATS, 7-9 O/U) will collide with the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (8-9, 6-8 ATS, 7-7 O/U) in a Sun Belt clash on Thursday night. The Mountaineers recorded a solid home win against Troy last time out. The Chanticleers were clobbered in a road loss against Georgia State on Saturday. Appalachian State posted a narrow 63-62 home victory against Coastal Carolina earlier this season.
The Appalachian State Mountaineers enter this one as a winner of three out of their last four games propelled by marvelous defensive play. Appalachian State beat James Madison, lost a narrow 67-65 home decision against Georgia Southern and were 2.5 point dogs in a 58-45 home win against Troy on Saturday to improve to 3-3 in conference play. The Mountaineers have covered the spread in two of their last three road games.
Tyree Boykin has scored at least 13 points in three consecutive games. The senior guard has not been particularly efficient, shooting below 39% in each of his last four clashes, and is averaging 11.9 PPG on the season. Donovan Gregory has scored double-digits in four of his last five games. The senior forward has recorded an average of 11.7 PPG and 4.2 APG. Terence Harcum scored 15 points in Saturday’s defeat. The sophomore guard is third in team scoring with 9.2 PPG on a 40% mark from the field.
The Mountaineers allowed only 45 points, which were the fewest in a league game by an opponent since 2015, when App State defeated ULM, 68-43. In both of these contests, the opponent held the first-place standing in the Sun Belt.#TakeTheStairshttps://t.co/u1O6IB6zzC
