The Minnesota Timberwolves (22-23; 19-26 ATS) are coming off Monday’s 126-125 defeat to the Utah Jazz. It was their second loss in eight games, while Rudy Gobert played just five minutes due to a groin injury. The Timberwolves went 18-for-41 from downtown and posted a terrific 28/6 assist-to-turnover ratio, but their defense was awful, especially down the stretch.
Minnesota was outscored 39-30 in the fourth quarter last Monday. The T-Wolves yielded 60 points in the paint and sent the Jazz to a foul line 28 times. Anthony Edwards led the way for the Timberwolves with 29 points and five assists, while D’Angelo Russell had 21 points and seven dishes.
“The story of the game was on offens e and ability to finish around the paint,” Minnesota coach Chris Finch said. “I think we were, let’s see here, 28 for 52 in the paint. That’s a lot of misses in the paint. And not all of them were because of great defense. We missed a lot of easy ones.”

Minnesota is now tied with Utah for the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference. The Timberwolves rank 19th in the NBA in adjusted offensive efficiency (113.5 points per 100 possessions) and 13th in adjusted defensive efficiency (113.9). Their defense is sixth in 2-point percentage (52.9%) and 29th in 3-point percentage (37.1%).
