Connecticut (UCONN) vs. Seton Hall Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 1-18-2023

The Connecticut Huskies (15-4, 12-6-1 ATS, 12-7 O/U) collide with the Seton Hall Pirates (11-8, 10-8 ATS, 8-9 O/U)  in a Big East showdown on Wednesday evening. The Huskies were hit with a home loss by St. John’s last time out. The Pirates recorded a road win against DePaul on Saturday. UConn defeated Seton Hall in two of three meetings last season.

The Connecticut Huskies are in need of a win. They were undefeated on the season up until late last month including a 3-0 start to Big East play but have since dropped four out of their last five games to plummet to 4-4 in conference action. UConn was hit with an 82-76 road loss to a good Marquette last week and were huge 15-point favorites in a stunning 85-74 home loss to St. John’s on Sunday. The Huskies have only covered the spread in one out of their last six games.

Adama Sanogo continues to produce, even in the defeats. The junior forward has connected on at least 50% of his field goals in each conference game and is sporting an average of 17.3 PPG and 6.8 RPG. Jordan Hawkins has not been effective recently. The sophomore guard has shot below 37% in four of his last five clashes and is averaging 15.4 PPG on only 10 % shooting. Alex Karaba n has scored double-digits in three out of his last four games. The freshman forward is posting an average of 9.9 PPG.

The Huskies are ranked sixth in DI in Ken Pomeroy’s ratings and dipped nine spots to #15 in this week’s AP Top 25 due to the losses to Marquette and St. John's. Connecticut is 2-3 on the road and is scoring an average of 79.7 points, good for 34th. The defense has not been nearly as strong recently and they are conceding an average of 63.7 points, positioning them 47th.
