The Davidson Wildcats will head up to Ohio to face the Dayton Flyers in Atlantic 10 action from the UD Arena on the CBSSN. Dayton leads the all-time series, 8-2, after winning six meetings in a row, including a New Year’s Eve bash in Charlotte a few weeks ago.
Davidson dropped to 9-9 after losing to George Mason in Fairfax. The Wildcats led at the break, but a strong second half from the Patriots would put them over the top. Davidson is scoring 70.9 points per game, while allowing 69.5 ppg, and shooting 44.9% from the field.
Davidson was just given a three-piece by the state of Virginia, and they’ll look to reverse their fortunes in a rematch with Dayton here. After starting the season 5-1, the Wildcats haven’t been the annual mid-major we’re accustomed to seeing since Thanksgiving. Foster Loyer and Sam Mennenga do most of the damage for Davidson. Loyer, a 6” guard, has three 30-point games this season, and he leads the Wildcats in scoring (16.1) and assists (4.7). Mennenga, a 6”9 forward, double-doubled against Richmond, and he’s grabbing a team-lead 7.2 rpg, while scoring 15.5 ppg.
