The Detroit Red Wings face the Arizona Coyotes with both teams looking to improve on rough seasons. The Red Wings have an 18-16-7 record and are in sixth place in the Atlantic Division while the Coyotes have a 13-25-5 record and with nine losses in a row have fallen to the bottom of the Central Division. Both teams are looking to turn around their seasons and the upcoming game looks to be a good one as a result.

The Red Wings are having a rocky season despite their offense stepping up and scoring 3.10 goals per game. Dylan Larkin and Dominik Kubalik have scored 27 goals and 42 assists to lead the top line but the rest of the offense has also stepped up. Lucas Raymond, David Perron, and Andrew Copp have scored 28 goals and 52 assists while defenseman Filip Hronek is adding seven goals and 23 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has stepped up but the defense has been awful, allowing 3.34 goals per game. Filip Hronek and Olli Maatta have combined for 4.8 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, goaltender Magnus Hellberg has struggled with a .896 save percentage and a 2.81 goals-against average on 125 shots.
