Once Upon A Time In Las Vegas – Wildcard Edition

Two American Athletic Conference foes battle Sunday afternoon as the East Carolina Pirates host the South Florida Bulls.  East Carolina is 10-8 overall and 1-4 in the AAC while South Florida is 7-10 overall and 0-4 in the conference. East Carolina won both matchups between these two teams a year ago. Tipoff is at 1:00 p.m. EST at the Williams Arena in Greenville, NC.

The South Florida Bulls are still looking for their first win in the American Athletic Conference. They come into this matchup with a record of 7-10 overall and 0-4 in the AAC. The Bulls have lost four straight but they have been extremely competitive. They only lost at Memphis by, against Temple by 4, and against Wichita State by four. But their best performance of the season was their last game, an 83-77 loss at No. 1 ranked Houston as 23 point underdogs on Wednesday.

The Bulls actually out shot Houston 49% to 42% and drained 10 of 21 from three point range. They also out rebounded Hosuton. Turnovers killed them however as they coughed in up 16 times, which helped give Houston 12 more field goal attempts. Tyler Harris had himself a game for the Bulls pouring in 31 points with 6 threes. Russel Tchewa added 14 points and 8 boards while Jamir Chaplin also had 14 points for the Bulls. Harris leads the team with 16.2 points per game. South Florida is ranked No. 154 in the country in the KenPom power rankings.
