The Boston Celtics have returned to the top of the Eastern Conference standings with five straight wins. The streak included yet another victory over Brooklyn on Thursday night, 109-98. Boston won the game against a Nets team that was playing their first game without star forward Kevin Durant, who is out for at least two weeks with an MCL sprain. Boston had its own star forward out, however, as Jaylen Brown missed the game with a strained abductor. He is expected to miss at least a week. Boston was led by all-star Jayson Tatum, who poured in 20 points to go along with 11 rebounds. Marcus Smart added a double-double with 16 points and 10 assists. The Celtics bench played a key role, particularly in the second half, led by Malcolm Brogdon who had 16 points.

At 31-12, the Celtics once again have the best record in the NBA. They come in with the 2nd best scoring offense in the NBA and the 8th best 3pt field goal percentage. Boston has regained its footing thanks to ball movement and ball security. The Celtics are ranked fourth in the NBA in turnovers. With Robert Williams II back in the fold, the Celtics defense has made the slow climb back up the rankings. Boston is 13th in the NBA in points allowed per game and 13th in 3pt defense. The Celtics are still struggling on the glass, ranking just 28th in the NBA.
Key Injuries: F Brown should be out at least a week. F/C Al Horford will likely be ready to go on Saturday after sitting out Thursday's game with back issues.
